What is Work Play Do Good?
Work Play Do Good. (WPDG) isn’t a philosophy or a mantra. It’s a set of expectations and commitments. It creates a lens for curating and distributing our shared stories and experiences as communities. It is both the invisible lines that connect us universally and the extraordinary stories that make us unique.
Work: Collection & Connection
Work is viewed through a lens of commitment to constant improvement. It creates an expectation of listening and learning. It expects excellence.
Play: Curiosity & Creativity
Play should not be considered simply as leisure. It is more appropriately viewed as that of a beginner’s mind: open perspectives that question, but also create.
Do Good: Community & Calling
Do Good is a vision of something bigger than ourselves. It is a sense of community but also higher calling and purpose. It acts upon the vision of what we as individuals and communities are called to do and to be.
Rather than rely upon isolated and independent strategies, WPDG seeks to create integrated and highly refined presentations (print, web and mobile) of these unified narratives. WPDG Sioux Falls and WPDG33 are the first two projects.
What is WPDG Sioux Falls?
Too often visitors to Sioux Falls arrive at a non-descript airport, travel by a penitentiary and packing plant to see the Falls, and eat at a chain restaurant before falling asleep at a chain hotel.
Our belief is that there is another story to be told of rich culture, unique experiences and extraordinary people. Our goal is to provide the world with a different storyline for our community, one that captures the unique quality of life that exists in Sioux Falls.
WPDG Sioux Falls will be developed through a collaboration of some of the region’s best designers, writers, photographers, filmmakers, and web developers, along with 25 community partners. The resulting document will be a limited-edition journal driven by photography and elegant design with corresponding web presence and video content. These individually numbered pieces will be distributed to thoughts leaders, influentials and creatives both inside the region and throughout the country.
What is WPDG33?
WPDG33 serves as the first of these efforts by drawing together 33 experiences from 2010 (in 140 character summaries) into a document that is equal parts Thanksgiving gratitude and Christmas wish list. To download this document, click here.
